What Service Does Your Car Need?
Your car is due for a service. You look at the service sticker, the odometer, maybe the manufacturer’s log book — and you’re still not entirely sure what to book.
That’s normal.
There isn’t a single service that is appropriate for every vehicle at every point in its life. What your car needs depends on the vehicle, its age and mileage, its service history, what maintenance has already been carried out, what is due now and the condition of the vehicle.
You shouldn’t need to diagnose your own maintenance requirements before bringing your car to a workshop. Determining what your vehicle needs is part of our job.
Start with the service
At Motorfix, we start with the standard Log Book Service that includes the Engine Oil and Oil Filter. This looks after an important part of the vehicle’s scheduled maintenance while giving us the opportunity to properly inspect the vehicle and establish where it is in its maintenance journey.
The inspection isn’t simply a collection of checks. We’re looking at the vehicle as a whole and asking: What has already been done? What is due now? What is wearing? What is developing? What needs attention? What should be planned for later? And what doesn’t need doing?
Establishing where your car is in its journey
Every vehicle has a maintenance history. Some items are serviced at regular intervals. Some components wear gradually. Some things may have been replaced previously, while others may be approaching the point where they need attention.
That’s why the right answer isn’t always found by simply selecting a particular service from a menu. We want to establish where your vehicle is now.
From there, we can explain what has been looked after, what needs attention and what should be considered next.
That might mean everything is in good order and the scheduled maintenance is all that’s required. It might mean something needs attention now. Or it might mean there are items worth planning for the next service or further down the road.
The important thing is that you know the difference.
You don’t need to be a mechanic
Looking after your car properly doesn’t mean you need to understand everything about servicing and vehicle maintenance. You need a workshop that can assess the vehicle, explain what it finds and help you make sensible decisions about what happens next.
